laser resurfacing

This is the treatment of choice for skin texture problems like fine wrinkling or skin problems related to sun damage. It requires two weeks of skin preparation to help reduce the chances of pigmentation problems afterwards. Some people have both sagging and texture problems. Unfortunately, there isn't one procedure that will improve both situations, and both procedures can't be safely done at the same time. If both a facelift and laser resurfacing are appropriate, I feel that they should be separated by 3 – 4 weeks, at a minimum.

All laser resurfacing patients receive pre-op facial treatments to prepare their skin for surgery, and one facial after the procedure. We encourage our patients to continue the skincare program after surgery to enhance the outcome of the procedure.

what to expect

The resurfaced area will be the "focus of your life" for 8–10 days following the actual treatment. Because this is not the most comfortable of procedures, we will give you detailed instructions and all the supplies necessary to care for your skin during this time. There is always residual pinkness that can be covered with makeup while it fades. This fading process takes 3–4 months. There is some additional improvement of your skin during this time, too. Some deeper wrinkles and creases may need a second treatment for the most improvement. The upper and lower lips and chin can be treated without having to have the entire face resurfaced.
